Ned Seaton is the publisher of the Manhattan Mercury and the general manager of the Manhattan Broadcasting group that includes KMAN, K-Rock, B-104, Z-96 and Sunny 102.5.
The Seaton family bought the Manhattan Mercury in 1915, and then put KMAN on the air in 1950. Ned is the fourth generation of the family to be directly involved. He follows his father, Edward Seaton, who was the Mercury publisher for more than 50 years.
Ned grew up in Manhattan, graduated from Manhattan High in 1986, and from Harvard in 1990 with an undergraduate degree in social studies. He worked as a local news reporter for newspapers in Phoenix; Orange County, Calif.; and St. Petersburg, Fla.; and as a newsman for the Associated Press bureau in Kansas City. He returned to Manhattan in 1996, working as the news editor and the general manager before becoming publisher. During his career he has led The Mercury to several statewide and national journalism awards for quality. In 2024, he took on the management of the Manhattan Broadcasting operations and led the merging of The Mercury and KMAN news, advertising and customer service functions.
Ned has two sons, a daughter, a nephew he considers a son, a stepdaughter and two stepsons. He is married to Angie Seaton, who has much more sense than he does.
